River Run Women’s and Men’s Match Play Tournament

DON’T FORGET TO SIGN UP

River Run Women’s and Men’s Match Play Tournament

We’re only two weeks from the start of this year’s Match Play Tournament, so please stop by the pro shop as soon as possible to make sure you  are included.  We will be posting the draw on May 24 so get yourself signed up ahead of time and matches can be played beginning May 28.

Don’t forget, you need a handicap and the pro shop will be glad to explain to anyone who doesn’t have one what they need to do.  It’s easy, so don’t let that stop you.  As in prior years, prizes will be awarded in the form of pro shop credits in every round and full handicaps will be used so everyone has a very good chance to succeed.  Even first round losers (which I have been every year I’ve played) have the enjoyment of some friendly competition and the opportunity to meet some new friends.

Let’s make this year’s tournament the most successful one yet and get plenty competitors signed up.

The more we have playing, “THE BIGGER THE POT”.

River Run Golf Committee

River Run Golf Club Match Play Tournament

Once again we will be conducting a Match Play Tournament during the 2017 golf season.  Hopefully everyone is getting their game in shape for the summer season and the most enjoyable way to see just how sharp your game is would be to participate in a fun, match play event.

There will be a few changes from the format used in prior years.  The tournament will be open to anyone wishing to enter and we will have separate brackets for Ladies and Men.  All you need to enter is a USGA handicap (if you don’t have one the pro shop can explain how easy it is to establish one) and $25.00.  Just take both to the pro shop, sign up and you’re in.  The major change this year is that every player must have an established, verifiable USGA handicap and a minimum of 3 attested scores for rounds played in 2017.  As noted above, the Pro Shop will be happy to assist anyone needing a handicap.  We will establish one or more brackets depending on the number of entries received.

Men will be able to play from the white, gold, blue or black tees but the handicap from the white tees must be used and ladies may play from any tees but must use their handicap from the red tees.  Players may NOT switch tees during the round.  Also, players do NOT have to play from the same set of tees.  For instance, if player A wants to play the blue tees and player B the white tees, they are welcome to do so but the handicap is based on both playing the white tees.

Non-members will be responsible for their cart rental and greens fees at a reduced rate.

There will be 2 weeks, beginning in late May, for each match to be played, 100% of handicaps will be used and prizes in the form of pro shop credits will be awarded in each round of each bracket.  This is an opportunity, with the use of handicaps, for everyone to have a chance to not only enjoy some friendly competition but also to have a realistic chance for success.
